These are some of the pictures I took on September 11, 2001, from the roof of my apartment at 109 St. Marks Place. The three photos above were taken in the seconds after the south tower was hit. Below, on the left, is a close-up. The picture below on the right shows the Tribute in Light six months later, taken from the same location on Mar 11, 2002.

I've had these lying around on my hard drive for a while now, but I've always felt ambivalent about posting them. I felt ambivalent about taking them—after the third picture in the sequence, above, I put down my camera, and did not take a picture with this camera until 6 months later. All these shots are from the same film.
