Last year, somebody had that very thought, opened a caf\u00e9 in trendy S\u00f6dermalm (well, I live there) <em>So<\/em>uth of <em>Fo<\/em>lkungagatan, called it SoFo, rallied local shops to the cause, and now SoFo is a meme on the verge of prime time<span class=\"sg-marginalia-250\">Stockholm fashion blogger Anna has <a href=\"http:\/\/mymarkup.net\/anna\/archives\/002428.php\">covered SoFo<\/a> from the start.<br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>The caf\u00e9 owner, BTW, does not take kindly to suggesting SoFo works best as an <em>ironic<\/em> neologism.<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>But not the only meme. Every SoFo implies a NoFo, which, selfevidently, is the area <em>No<\/em>rth of <em>Fo<\/em>lkungagatan. But Folkungagatan is long, so we call the area further along <a href=\"http:\/\/www.urbandictionary.com\/define.php?term=mofo&amp;f=1\">MoFo<\/a>, <em>Mo<\/em>re of <em>Fo<\/em>lkungagatan.<\/p>\n<p>To the South of SoFo (SoSo? Nah), we get to the area <em>No<\/em>rth of <em>Lo<\/em>wer <em>Go<\/em>tlandsgatan, NoLoGo. Still further south there is a part of the city whose main landmarks are the <em>B<\/em>ridges <em>o<\/em>ff <em>Ring<\/em>v\u00e4gen, or BoRing. I live between BoRing and NoLoGo.<\/p>\n<p>To the West of SoFo, we find LoBoToMe, or <em>Lo<\/em>wer <em>Bo<\/em>ndegatan <em>To<\/em> <em>Me<\/em>dborgarplatsen. Even further west lies the area <em>So<\/em>uth of <em>Fat<\/em>bursgatan, SoFat, and then as we head North, we approach <em>Horn<\/em>sgatan from the <em>So<\/em>uth, an area affectionately known by the locals as SoHorny.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"sg-marginalia-100\">Click on image to magnify.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.stefangeens.com\/6550.html\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"6550s.gif\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.stefangeens.com\/6550s.gif?resize=470%2C486\" width=\"470\" height=\"486\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Other parts of Stockholm, not on this map, have also acquired sought-after acronyms. North Vasastan is now called NoVa, while South Vasastan is SoVa. (Thanks to Anna and Magnus for pointing some of these out to me.
