{"id":486,"date":"2005-06-22T21:59:50","date_gmt":"2005-06-23T04:59:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stefangeens.com\/?p=486"},"modified":"2005-06-22T21:59:50","modified_gmt":"2005-06-23T04:59:50","slug":"cut-the-cap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stefangeens.com\/2001-2013\/2005\/06\/cut-the-cap\/","title":{"rendered":"Cut the CAP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I am currently a little proud to be living in a country with a sane policy towards the EU budget mess: Swedish PM G\u00f6ran Persson and UK PM Tony Blair <a title=\"The Local - Persson and Blair in EU budget alliance\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thelocal.se\/article.php?ID=1649&amp;date=20050621&amp;PHPSESSID=c46e207d61defd6f285c0aa67b3de2ed\">have allied<\/a> to push for a fundamental revamp of the EU budget&#8217;s structure, calling for the early demise of the odious and unprincipled Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).<\/p>\n<p>Given that EU President Barroso is currently on a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2005\/06\/22\/international\/europe\/22cnd-europe.html?ex=1277092800&amp;en=1de76cda484d7657&amp;ei=5090&amp;partner=rssuserland&amp;emc=rss\">direct collision course<\/a> with Blair, this should make life interesting for EU Vice President Margot Wallstr\u00f6m, who is also on-again off-again heir to Persson&#8217;s mantle.
